Counter Tops: Sneak Peek

If I showed you my counter tops right now... You would all think I've gone LOONEY! So I'll give you a little sneak peak and the reveal will be on Monday...



Painting my Counter Tops: Day 1

I don't know if any have you have ever noticed or not when I've showed pictures of my kitchen... but my counter tops are 3 shades of ugly...

No they don't match... there is THREE different types of laminate in here?!?!

So I'm gonna remedy this problem!

Step One: Remove EVERYTHING off the counter tops

Step Two: Clean them REALLY well! {I used Mrs. Meyers in Lemon Verbena- it smells D-E-V-I-N-E}

Step Three: Now this is debatable... See when we moved here I HATED the counter tops. So I painted the parts of them {see picture above left side} to see how it would hold up. Well we've been here for 2 years and the paint is still holding up. So step three COULD be to prime your counter tops but I'm skipping step three.

Step Four: Tape off your counters, and sink. Once again I kinda skimped on this. Since I'm using the same base color as my walls I only had to tape of the sink!

Step Five: Bust out the paint and get to painting. The base coat I'm using is the same color as my walls. {Which is good ol' fashioned Wal-Mart paint! Color: Cottonwood}

I painted two coats {letting them dry in between}

Already looking better and right now it's just beige and boring! Let it dry over night!

Tomorrow these bad boys come out to play!

Problem Solving 101

This is what we store our dog food in.

The hubs doesn't tell me we need food until it looks like this...

We have been going back and forth for MONTHS!

I'll ask him a MILLION times to tell me when the dog food is getting low so while I'm grocery shopping I can get some more. (He feeds the dogs so he knows how much food is left in the tub... I know when I'm heading out the door I could look myself and see if we need more dog food... BUT I think since this is his ONE grocery item to keep track of he should tell me.) He can't seem to "eyeball" when they are about to be out of food. So since he seems to need a visual aide and the food tub was already empty I gave him a guide line...

Now hopefully we can keep our crazy dogs happy...

So that they don't resort to this again...



Junk Wreath

So who know what yesterday was????

The first!

Who knows what that means????

Sarah was supposed to do her first of the month project....

Did I receive it????? Nope!
{due to technical difficulties she's not a complete slacker}

So Sarah's "first of the month project" has officially become Sarah's

sometime-during-the-first-half-of-the-month-project

Hahaha love ya Sarah K!

So I've decided that the first is now going to be dedicated to a list. This list will have all of the projects I'm HOPING to get done that month. Hopefully this will keep me more organized and on track with what I want to get done.

My list for March:

• Paint our kitchen counters (Yup painting them to look like granite!)
• Make a shower curtain for our guest bathroom
• Plant a garden
• Finish Decorating the Porch
• Paint our Front Door (Black or Red. Haven't decided yet...)

Okay I think that's a good start for March. Of course there will be other little projects thrown in but I'm hoping this will help me be more on track when it comes to the larger projects!

I did make a wreath to hang on my screen door welcome sign.

I found the grapevine wreath at Wal-Mart for like $3.

I added a bow and tied on an old licence plate! The hubs got mad when I took down the wall of licence plates so I decided I would display at least one of them for him!

The best part? I can take off the license plate to add other embellishments when the feeling comes! What do you think?
