Mason Jar Holder

I'm pretty sure that Mason Jars are God's gift to homemakers.

They look vintage, and chic, and rustic, and everything I want my home to represent.
I-LOVE-MASON-JARS!

So I made a mason jar holder for my FABRIC FLOWER BOUQUET.

I simply took a piece of 1x6, cut it down to about 8" long and painted it. Then I used a pipe clamp that I got from a home improvement store (I took a jar with me to the store to find the perfect size) and screwed it into the wood. Nailed a picture hanger to the back and hung it up. Easy and Cheap. Just how I like it. {hehe}

Fabric Flower Bouquet

Yes I'm alive and still kickin'! Sorry I missed y'all last week. I decided to take a step back from the blog and focus on Sign Me Up. It was exactly what I needed to do. I took a step back focused on the shop and found my creativity again.

Not only that but I kinda figured out a couple of things I want to do around the blog. BIG changes are coming people! BIG BIG BIG! Get ready.

Anyways... On to today's little crafty post!
Remember when I posted at Momma Hen's place like FOREVER ago? Yea just realized I never shared what I made here! So here it is.

A Fabric Flower Bouquet!

First gather all your scrap fabric.
Next cut strips of fabric about 1.5 inches x 44 inches (44-45 inches is the standard width for most fabrics)

(I folded mine over a bunch of times so I wouldn't have to make such long cuts.)

Next (on one side of the fabric) sew a line. You can use your sewing machine or a needle and thread.
I just used a needle and tread. Simply tie a not in on one end of the thread and stitch back and forth along one edge while slightly gathering the fabric onto the thread.

You will end up with ruffles that look like this.

Now turn on that glue gun! Once it's heated add some glue to the end of a dowel rod.
(I got a package of 20 or so dowel rods at Hobby Lobby for around $1)

Starting at one end of your fabric wrap the fabric around the dowel rod gluing ever so often.

You will end up with a rose looking fabric flower like above!

Keep going until you have your desired bouquet! I know just the place I want to put these too! I'll be giving a tutorial on Tuesday as to where my bouquet's are going!

PSA- Rex, meet Tree

Don't speed on country roads....(or any road for that matter...)
You just might hit a patch of gravel and loose control...
and your Rex just might get up close and personal with a very large tree....

What can we learn from Facebook?

What can we learn from Facebook?

We can learn A TON! Especially with the new "you know you're from <blank> when..." groups that keep popping up...

"Maybe Cooter Barnett??? For some reason I'm thinking she had crazy hair and laughed a lot!"

"Cooter gave me anesthetic when I was giving birth 3 times loved her!! Sheirly I. was one of Dr. Rhoades nurse' s Joyce H. and Bettye O.'s mother was one (just can't remember her name)..."

"Time to get into this. I remember "Cotter" Barnett. She gave me anesthetic twice. Once in 1956 for tonsil operation. Told me I would see Pink Rabbits. Never saw them. Then in 1968, for my knee operation. Told her I was mad that I never saw those pink rabbits. She told me (at age 18) this time I would see Playboy Bunnies. I told her to "FILL ME UP!" Still did not see them bunnies."

All of these are stories are about my great-grandmother found on a page from a town she lived in...

Good lord I miss her. I'm happy to know that other people have such fond memories of her as well.

I will never stop learning from you Cooter. Ever.

(Make sure roast is covered- More dressing and peppers may be needed for larger roasts)
Turn crock pot on low.
Let cook for 6-8 hours. (Cook time varies based on roast size)

Italian Basil Chicken Pasta

Ever have those nights where you thaw something out for supper having NO idea what you're going to make? Where you just cross your fingers, throw something together, and pray that it's edible? It happens to me more often than not. Especially when you're broke and you just buy what's on sale at the grocery store.

The other night I did just that. Set some chicken out to thaw. Figured I could throw some seasoning on it, open a can of green beans and be good to go. Little did I know, I was about to create a masterpiece!

May I introduce...

Italian Basil Chicken Pasta

First I put the chicken into a Ziploc bag.
I poured in enough Onion Powder, Basil, Garlic Salt, Italian Seasoning, and Panko bread crumbs to coat the chicken. {Don't ask about measurements... I have no idea... I eyeballed it.}

Then I heated up a bit of vegetable oil in a large skillet and browned the chicken.
I boiled some spaghetti and when it was al dente, I drained it and added a bit of spaghetti sauce.

There you have it. Quick, simple, and yummy! Just the way I like it!
