Another Week...

I'm NOT excited to say that our move has been postponed a week...{It is actually working out for the best since we just had our yard sale this past Friday... But I'm ready to move!}
That means another week of not blogging... And I'm dying to! There are so many great blogs out there posting their fun fall decor and I can't wait to get started!
I have about a million different ideas floating around in my head for projects to share. On top of that my projects are now going to be "take away designs" as Momma Hen likes to call them! Plus I'll be working on organizing tips and tricks... I know if my brother "Tom" saw that he would laugh. But really, one of the whole reasons we're moving is to change and better ourselves. So why not start at home?

On another note... I've had this song stuck in my head ALL WEEKEND LONG! I can't listen to it enough!

LOVE me some APC!

I'll be linking up to some of *these* rockin' parties!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

 Hey lovelies!

Notice anything different?!?!?!?

Lord I hope you do! It's a ton of work doing a blog re-design!

I've moved a bit of stuff around so feel free to take a gander. Same great stuff just different places. If you decide to take a peek at the "Meet Me" page (Pages are now to your right >>>>) you just might learn something new... and maybe a little about these changes going on around here!

Meanwhile this handsome devil and I are headed to Big D! To put forth in motion some of those...
Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

Have a great weekend!

Fabric Flower Bouquet

Yes I'm alive and still kickin'! Sorry I missed y'all last week. I decided to take a step back from the blog and focus on Sign Me Up. It was exactly what I needed to do. I took a step back focused on the shop and found my creativity again.

Not only that but I kinda figured out a couple of things I want to do around the blog. BIG changes are coming people! BIG BIG BIG! Get ready.

Anyways... On to today's little crafty post!
Remember when I posted at Momma Hen's place like FOREVER ago? Yea just realized I never shared what I made here! So here it is.

A Fabric Flower Bouquet!

First gather all your scrap fabric.
Next cut strips of fabric about 1.5 inches x 44 inches (44-45 inches is the standard width for most fabrics)

(I folded mine over a bunch of times so I wouldn't have to make such long cuts.)

Next (on one side of the fabric) sew a line. You can use your sewing machine or a needle and thread.
I just used a needle and tread. Simply tie a not in on one end of the thread and stitch back and forth along one edge while slightly gathering the fabric onto the thread.

You will end up with ruffles that look like this.

Now turn on that glue gun! Once it's heated add some glue to the end of a dowel rod.
(I got a package of 20 or so dowel rods at Hobby Lobby for around $1)

Starting at one end of your fabric wrap the fabric around the dowel rod gluing ever so often.

You will end up with a rose looking fabric flower like above!

Keep going until you have your desired bouquet! I know just the place I want to put these too! I'll be giving a tutorial on Tuesday as to where my bouquet's are going!

I'll be linking up to some of THESE awesome parties!

The Evolution of a photo... Part 1

Now I am NO photo expert. By ANY means. I use a plain jane point and shoot camera.
(That is currently broken... insert sad face here)
But I've been working on trying to edit my photos to make them look a little better and thought I would share the little tips that I've learned along the way...
ALL EDITS AND DIRECTIONS ARE DONE THROUGH PICNIK.

Here is the original picture that I started with. I took this a couple of months back on our Shamrock Trip.

Step 1. Erase those ugly electric wires.
Upload your picture into Picnik.
In the Create tab click on Advanced.
Select Clone and erase those wires.

Step 2.  Shed a Little Light!
In the Edit Tab Choose Exposure.
Once there click on the Advanced button to your right.
Bump up the Highlights to +15 and the Brightness +8

Step 3. Let's Add Some Effects
In the Create Tab Select Effects.
Choose Vignette.
I reduced the size to 45.

Step 4. Black and White Anyone?
In the Create Tab Select Effects.
Top of the list? Black and White. Click it.
Next I faded it 20% So that a little color would show through.

Step 5. Add Some Layers.
In the Create Tab scroll to Texture.
I don't know the name of this texture but it's on the bottom row second from the left.

Step 6. Some More Layers.
Next I added the same effect as in Step 5 but I rotated it to the right 3 times and faded it 55%.

Here's a before and after shot. I love how it turned out. Much more rustic and it kinda looks like an old post card if you ask me. Now these are the step I took to get from point B to A (Before and After- get it Before to After... Okay Carry on.) Your picture may require more or less tweaking and you can fiddle with things to make your photo look just how you want it to. I hope this helps some! And if you have any questions at all feel free to shoot me an e-mail I'll do my best to try and answer them!

Be honest... but be gentle...

I think I'm ready. Think being the key word here. I love my new blog design from Miss Paige! I still feel like my blog is missing something though. I stumbled across this post at Meridian Road and decided to make a go for it.

Beauty in the Attempt is doing a blog hop where bloggers can link up and see what other bloggers do and can receive CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms :-)

So please be honest. Tell me what you think. What are my faults? Pictures? Writing? Where do I need to improve? What are my strengths? Layout? Links? What areas do you find that I'm doin' good? Please be gentle. Tell me what you think but do it nicely... I cry easily. Okay not REALLY but I do get VERY defensive :-)

Thank you in advance! Can't wait to hear what you all think!!!

New Blog Design

Have you noticed the new blog design? I found a beautiful digital scrapbook pack at Sweet Shoppe Designs.
This package is called Fly Free by designer Jenn Barrett.

She was kind enough to let me use this package for my blog! I love how it turned out! I enlisted the help of a FABULOUS blogger Paige from Simply Homemade by Paige to do all of the designing. She is such a hard worker! Without her I don't think I would have been able to get this fabulous makeover!

In addition to Paige's wonderful blog she also has a really cute Etsy shop called Pink Lemonade! Go check out all of her goodies {I only wish I dressed as cute as her!} I just might go shopping in her store and pick up some of these!

Maybe your blog needs a face lift? She can totally do that too!
Here is some of her other designs!

Thank you to both Jenn and Paige for the fabulous blog makeover!
