God's Pocket

After Gary and I were married we were given a "God pocket". This is a perfect gift for newlyweds, expectant mothers, new mothers, anyone going through a tough time, well anyone could use this really!

Inside our God pocket were two letters.

One was how to use your God Pocket and the other was a story about letting God take over.

The how-to read "This is your personal God's pocket. You may use your God's pocket however you wish. Write down your prayers, your hopes, your dreams, and your fears. Slip in a photo of a loved one if you like... Anything you need to give to God for His care, you may put into His pocket and leave it there."

The story read, "As children bring their toys with tears for us to mend I brought my broken dreams to God because he is my friend. But then instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone, I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own. At last I snatched them back again and cried 'How can you be so slow?' 'My child,' He said 'what could I do? You never did let go.'"

Love the story, love the whole concept, love everything about it!
So here is how to make your very own God pocket.

What you'll need:
  • 2 linen napkins, handkerchiefs, or tea towels (I used linen napkins)
  • Iron
  • Scissors
  • Switch Witchery (I PROMISE I CAN SEW! I've just been really lazy fallen in love with Switch Witchery)

Overlay the two napkins/ tea towels/ or handkerchief about an inch.
Use some Switch Witchery to adhere the two pieces together.

Fold the bottom piece in half and "sew" (use more Switch Witchery) up the sides

Next fold down the top piece and iron to create a crease.

Now you have your own place to write down your hopes and dreams to leave in God's pocket... but don't forget to let go.

You could also write little notes to Jesus, put them in the gift pocket, and hang them on a Christmas or Jesse tree. (If you use this idea please give me credit!).
